HomePatrick Dixon

Patrick Dixon is a historian of the United States based in Arlington, Virginia and the author of Nuggets of Gold: Further Processed Chicken and the Making of the American Diet (University of Georgia Press, Oct. 2024).

Patrick takes the lead on the LHF Labor Arts & History Calendar, collecting, editing, and publishing events each week. Drawing on his extensive labor history knowledge and contacts, he identifies stories, authors, books, historians, artists, and potential guests and handles outreach, follow-up, and interviews. He is a core member of the Labor Heritage Power Hour and Labor History Today production team, does substantial editing and production work for Labor Radio Podcast Weekly, and contributes to newsletter research and writing and other LHF projects.

A member of the Labor and Working-Class History Association, he is deeply engaged in the work of labor history and works closely with authors and publishers to connect and promote the scholarly work of historians within the broader labor movement.  To that end, he has booked, produced and edited countless historical segments that have appeared on both the Labor Heritage Power Hour and the Labor History Today podcasts.

Outside of his work for LHF, Patrick is a research analyst at the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor at Georgetown University.  In this role he has managed a range of different projects concerning the challenges and opportunities of the contemporary US labor movement.  Most recently he has been exploring ways in which he can use TikTok as an effective means of storytelling.
