About this event

The film, “WE FOUGHT FOR WHAT WE HAVE” is a Union Story from 2019 when WMATA privatized the Cinder Bed Road Metrobus garage for the purpose of cutting labor costs. The film captures how the D.C. local Amalgamated Transit Union, ATU 689, reacted by striking 85 days for the same rights as regular Metro employees- and won!
 Their victory sparked 10 strikes against private transit contractors across the region!
 The film will be shown at the New Deal Café, 113 Centerway, Greenbelt, MD on Sunday, September 20, at 6:30 p.m. The Labor Heritage Foundation and ATU Local 689 co-sponsor the film. ATU Local 689 rank and file members will join the discussion following the film.
 Reel and Meal is a monthly film series focused on environmental, social justice and animal rights issues. While the film is free, a buffet-style dinner will be available.
