Part of Works in Progress, New Plays by Michigan Writers
Also being presented: A Joyride in Memory Care. Ann Arborite Rick Sperling – an award-winning playwright, director and actor – portrays a multitude of characters in this one-man play about his mother’s journey through memory care. We see his dynamic mother Doris – a trailblazing teacher and educational reformer – lose her powerful voice to the devastation of dementia. Sperling also discovers deep beauty, dignity and humor as incredible people live out their last days in a brave new world. A testament to the transformational power of joy and community, especially in the darkest of days.
