More unions are forming at Wizards of the Coast. United Wizards of the Coast - Communications Workers of America announced on October 6th that workers on the Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond teams and at Studio X, which works on tabletop Magic: The Gathering and Duel Masters, are asking Hasbro to voluntarily recognize their union by Oct. 13.
"We’re proud to follow in the footsteps of MTG Arena’s own union, who recently won their union election, and have worked with the MTG Arena union in preparation for today," workers from the union said in a news release. "Now, we get to share it with you all! We are stewards of our games who deserve to be treated with all the respect and dignity that entails."
The workers are asking for fair wages and "defined career progression," job security, reliable healthcare, "sustainable workloads and practices, including remote and hybrid working," AI protections, and "full ownership of the work we create outside of the office."
