Front-of-house workers at Neptune Theatre in Halifax, Nova Scotia have voted overwhelmingly to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 680. The newly certified unit covers approximately 30 Box Office, Usher, and Bartender positions at the largest theatre company in Canada’s Atlantic provinces.
Local 680 has a longstanding relationship with Neptune Theatre, having represented the venue’s stagehands for years. With this victory, front-of-house workers join their backstage colleagues under the IATSE umbrella, completing union representation across the theatre’s workforce.
“This is an exciting victory for the previously unrepresented front-of-house workers at Neptune Theatre,” said Colin Richardson, Business Agent for IATSE Local 680. “Local 680 has a long history of representing the stagehands at Neptune. We are thrilled to welcome our new brothers, sisters, and kin into the IATSE family, and we look forward to supporting them in achieving better wages and working conditions.”
