The Actors’ Equity Association (Equity) released a letter this week signed by more than 1,300 members who work on Broadway urging The Broadway League to settle a fair production contract.
The union has been negotiating since Aug. 25, fighting for “a safer, more sustainable and healthier Broadway.” The signatories include Equity members working in every single show currently active on Broadway.
“Eight times a week, we show up for our audiences, but what audiences don’t see are all the additional hours behind the scenes it takes to stay show-ready,”the letterreads. “The work is intense, the schedules are grueling, and we show up with extraordinary skill, passion, and commitment. Now we’re asking you to show up for us….We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our fellow Equity stage managers, actors, and staff at the bargaining table. We are united, we are resolute, and we know Broadway is stronger when its workers are protected, supported, and heard.”
