Monday–Thursday: Calamity [Kalamita] screens all week as part of the DC Labor FilmFest. This Italian drama explores class, climate, and migration through the eyes of two teen girls during a sweltering summer in Southern Italy. Also Monday, catch Clockwatchers, a darkly comedic take on workplace precarity.

Tuesday is packed: New York hosts the Fifth Annual Clara Lemlich Awards, honoring lifetime activism by women in labor. Online, the NoVa Labor Book Club (note the new date!) discusses Love Songs of W.E.B. DuBois.

Wednesday, the Reel Work Labor Film Festival in California features Bargaining Shorts—a program of labor-themed short films.

Thursday brings three major events:

  • A new episode of the Labor Heritage Power Hour
  • A final screening of Calamity
  • The Solidarity Forever Awards at the AFL-CIO in DC

Friday–Saturday, Reel Work continues with Food for Thought and Action and Delano Manongs, honoring Filipino farmworker leadership in the 1965 grape strike.

Sunday, the DC Labor FilmFest closes the week with The Last Showgirl, a tender look at aging and reinvention in Las Vegas.
