Our most longstanding program is the Great Labor Arts Exchange, a national gathering of union members,
union staff, union officials, artists and labor educators who use music, art, poetry, theater, murals,
posters, cartoons, puppets, film and websites to strengthen the labor movement.
In conjunction with the GLAE, we hold the Conference on Creative Organizing (CCO), which
is a training program for union activists and staff in the use of picket line songs, parodies, chants,
skits, game shows, costumes, food and other creative organizing strategies.
Every year we publish a Catalog of Music, Art, Books and Film , which helps us disseminate
union culture by selling CDs, DVDs, books, notecards, buttons, and posters which have a labor
theme.
We compile the Inventory of American Labor Landmarks , a catalog of sites in the United States
commemorating the history and heritage of America's workers. These include: monuments, memorials,
historic markers, union halls, historic buildings, restored dwellings, public
sculpture, museums, history tours, heritage projects, preservation areas, and
murals.
We Support Regional Labor Festivals and Arts Exchanges. In 2007 we supported the
Western Workers Labor Heritage Festival in the San Francisco Bay area and the Pacific Northwest Labor
Arts Festival in Portland, Oregon.
