The Board of Directors

Elise Bryant (Chair) is an actress, playwright, and theatre director, as well as senior staff associate at the National Labor College and leader of the DC Labor Chorus.

Joyce Flynn (Fundraising Director) is with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. In her home town of St. Louis, Missouri she was a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, an administrative assistant to Governor Teasdale, an alderman in Ellisville, and an organizer for Local 88 Meatcutters.

Shelley Kessler is the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the San Mateo County Central Labor Council in California, a Vice-President of the California Labor Federation, and the President of the Western Workers Labor Heritage Festival. She also serves on the Board of the United Way.

Saul Schniderman (Secretary) is the President of the Library of Congress Professional Guild (AFSCME 2910), President of Capital Area Council of Federal Employees (AFSCME Council 26), Director of the Inventory of American Labor Landmarks, and former editor of Talkin' Union.

Joe Uehlein (President) was the Director of the AFL-CIO's Center for Strategic Campaigns. Joe also serves on the Board of the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES), Festive Revolution, laborarts.org, and the Youth Leadership Support Network. Joe plays guitar and sings and performed for over a decade with the labor rock'n roll band, The Bones of Contention. Joe's current band, The U-Liners, performs in a roots-rock style and their repertoire includes many songs of labor, freedom, human rights and environmental movements.
