Ricardo Flores

(1946 - 2003)




Ricardo A. Flores, 57, 4031 Connor Drive, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in Hospice Home of North East Indiana, Fort Wayne.

He was born in Kerrville, Texas, to the late Francisco and Caterina (Aguero) Flores. He married Cathy Michael on Oct. 7, 1977. She survives.

Mr. Flores retired from General Motors in March 2003. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, United Auto Workers 977 and the American Civil Liberties Union.

He was known internationally as a labor cartoonist. He owned and operated Workers Communication Press, sending cartoons and paintings nationally and internationally. Several paintings are displayed in galleries across the United States.

He was very quick to donate time and aid to struggling workers around the world. He was an accomplished musician and a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy, Marion; sons, Roland (Carla) Flores, Moores Hill, Steven (Kristina) and Ricardo M. Flores, both of Marion, and Antonio Flores, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; daughter, Cristina (Jason) Stambaugh, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; brothers, Frank (Nell), Alfred (Lolla) and Reuben (Leonore) Flores, all of Kerrville, and George (Lolly) Flores, Tyler, Texas; sisters, Gloria Flores, Kerrville, and Eva Villanueva, Llano, Texas; uncle, Ignacio (Mary) Flores, Gas City; grandchildren, Morgan, Austin, Christian and Aiden Flores, all of Moores Hill, Sergio, Gabriel and Mariah Flores, all of Marion, Kellen, Andrew and Lauren Stambaugh, all of Menomonee Falls, and Katelyn Flores, Marion.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave.
