DESCRIPTION: The Labor Heritage
Foundation (LHF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and
fostering the growth of cultural and artistic traditions within the labor movement. The LHF sponsors an annual networking and
educational conference for union, arts, and community activists from a variety
of artistic disciplines.
As
the organization approaches its 30th anniversary, an exciting
opportunity exists for an energetic, organized, and outgoing individual to
assume the role of executive director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide
leadership in developing program and organizational plans with the board
of directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the
board.
- Oversee all
financial aspects of the organization: budget development and
implementation; fundraising; and grant writing.
- Responsible for
the overall marketing and promotion of the organization, in addition to
acting as spokesperson.
- Oversee the archival
collection and public programming.
- Responsible for
the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff
and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-3 years of
management experience in a non-profit and/or arts and culture
environment. Knowledge of the trade union movement is a definite plus!
- Strong financial
management skills
- Excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to
multi-task in a busy environment
- Strong attention
to detail
- Good public
relations skills
- A post-secondary
degree is required in one of the following fields: Arts Administration,
Union Administration, Labor Studies, History or Fine Arts, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience
SALARY:
$45,000 to $55,000
